Unable to log on to Microsoft Dynamics. When Opening SSRS from second AOS/Database

Hi all,

I have two AOS installed on the same server. 01- for my "Test" and 02- for the "Contoso". My test Business database is working properly with the reports. But on my second instance for the Contoso Database I cannot manage to open any report, the error : Unable to log on to Microsoft Dynamics. shows up.

I tried also attaching the Contoso to the first 01 AOS but the error still persists . even though they have the same Report Server Configuration

I really appreciate your help guys,

thanks a lot!

    Hi Nikolaos,

I understand. But If the SRSS is already pointing my 01-AOS. And I install or attach any database to the 01-AOS should have the functionally of opening the reports because it is already in the right AOS. isnt it correct?

Yes. Provided you change the following -

    1. Reporting server config in the database from System admin > Setup > Business intelligence > Report servers. Do a "Validate settings" here to confirm.

    2. System service accounts > business connector proxy account  from System admin > Setup > System service accounts. The reporting service needs to have the "Log on" credentials.

Since you mentioned Contoso database , you won't be able to use the existing accounts as you won't have access to Contoso domain controller. You have to change the account to your domain account.

The SSRS itself is pointing to one AOS at a time. So if you want sometimes to use it with different AX instance / different AOS, you must update configuration in the SSRS side, not only in AX.

How to create and use that configuration file with SSRS is described here: docs.microsoft.com/.../create-a-new-microsoft-dynamics-ax-configuration

    Hi Gunjan,

Ok but what about if I want to leave only one SRSS attachted to one AOS(01). Any database I connect to the AOS 01 should open the reports. Am I right?

Do you have two complete AX instances on the same server? And two instances of Reporting Services?

If yes, you need to follow this documentation to set it up. It's quite a lot of effort so it's easier if you don't have two SSRS instances on the same server.

    Hi Nestor,

You need two different reporting server instances for two AOS servers. You will then need to modify the reporting services config file. Please check here for more details.
