Security Roles in Dynamic 365

I have an environment which contains a custom table and a canvas PowerApp. I created a security role and assigned users to the role . But the users are not able to see any data inside the PowerApp. I then assigned them the System Admin role and it worked (the users could see the data then).

To investigate the issue I copied Sysadmin role to a custom new role and then tried  again but even if each and every thing are copied from Sysadmin role the users are still not able to see the dat in the app.

All the users have valid license and they can see the data if I switch their role from custom one to Sysadmin. Am I missing some thing here. I do not want to share the app with them using Sysadmin role.

Please help me in the scenario.

Thanks and Regards,

Shreyansh

    Hi,

Can you elaborate as to whether this is related to D365?  Or is it just a canvas PA and a table behind?  If so, I would suggest posting directly to the PA forum: powerusers.microsoft.com/.../PowerApps1

If this is within a D365 stream and app (F&O, BC, CE), can you clarify which app?

That would be the best start.

I asked the same question there and also raised a ticket for them . After long wait time ( 1 month) , during which the ticket kept escalating , I was provided the link to this community to ask question here.

    Thanks

MS sent you here as the resolution of a ticket??

Not for the resolution, the ticket is still open. But they share this link to ask in the community.

    Thanks,

    Shreyansh

Interesting.  MS support is a many faced beast.  Anyway, can you please share screenshots of your configuration?  Pictures are often the most helpful in terms of potentially identifying the issue.

    Hi Shreyansh,

Have you granted the privileges of the App and the custom entity to the security role?

The security roles which can access the App can be set in the following location: (e.g. Customer Service Hub app)

As you said, the users are not able to see any data inside the Power App, I think that you missed the next step.

To grant the privileges of entities to security role, please refer to the following documentation:

Security roles and privileges - Power Platform | Microsoft Docs
