Normally a project production order is a producrtion order generated from a sales order:

Dear Stefano, thank you for your reply however this is not exactly what i am looking for and i will try to explain myself better.

From the sales order, i can create production orders for both types item and project.

When i create ta production order related to the order type item, after having processed and posted only the quantities of the item line are reported as finished while the quantities of the components remain as is the beginning.

I wanted to attempt the creation of a production order with order type 'project' but it keeps on showing me that the item is not existing: the item not existing is the sales order number and i am not sure whether there is a step that i am missing.

    Thank you.

    Imagine you have these items:

    A - consists of A1, A2 and A3

    A1 consists of AA1 and AA2

If you have a demand for 1 x A, and create an Item production order for it, then that production order will create a demand for Item A1, which will be produced on a separate production order. So you will end up with 2 production orders, with one production order line on each.

If you create a project production order, you will generate one production order with two production order lines, one for product A and one for product A1. The production order line for A1 will be indented below the line for A, and will be planned to finish before the line for A.

This issue is also related to the field "Production Principle" on the item card.

To illustrate, I created the items, BOMs, a sales order and a project production order, see below:

Note the second line is indented, and the planned end date on line 2 is equal to the planned start date on the first line.

So line 2 must be produced before line 1, as the output from line 2 is a component needed to produce line 1.

    Hi Lars,

Can you please help locating the "field "Production Principle" on the item card." as I cannot seem to see it? On that note, do you know if user/system can switch those types when creating orders from Order Planning screen?
