Use another Exchange Mailbox for CRM Admin

Hi,

Is it possible to use the email of a User who has not been assigned a CRM license as the email for a CRM Admin User.

e.g. User: John Smith has an exchange license but isn't active in any other area of Office 365. The CRM Admin User who has a CRM license wants to use John Smiths email to send and recieve messages in CRM. Essentially setting CRM Admin User Mailbox to johnsmith...

I have tried this in a test environment with no success, tests always return "failure". I can also not add John Smiths email to the CRM Admin User within Office365 because it's already used by John Smith's User.

    Hi J M,

    This is possible. Can you tell me which Email Configuration you are using? Please find below steps to do this using Server Side Synchronization method:

    1. Go to Settings > Email Configuration > Email Configuration Settings. Setup as per below:

    2. Go to User Record and update Primary Email of the user to John's email id, save the record.
    3. Go to user's mailbox and check if updated email address is reflected or not. From the ribbon, approve the mailbox.
    4. Once, done, on mailbox, click on test and enable mailbox.

    You should be able to succeed.

    Figured it out. All you have to do is assign e.g. CRM Admin, mailbox permissions under John Smiths User profile (or alternatively within the exchange administration center).
