Actions to do when changing licenses in CRM Online

Hello guys,

I have a question regarding the technical aspect when you change the licences in crm online.

So I have this case that a few of my licenses did expire lately, but there was no option to extend the duration because the type of license isn't provided by Microsoft anymore. For this reason I ordered the same amount of licenses from another type and assigned them to my users and removed the old ones which expired. Even after the expiration of the old ones I can still access and work with the crm like I did the months before.

The thing is that I still got automated notifications mails from Microsoft (your licenses expire in 7 days, in 1 day, they expired and so on...) whether I want to renew my licenses.

So I'm a bit confused and what I want to know is, whether there is more to do than just have new active and assigned licenses so that the data or the customizations in the crm won't be lost when the 90 days after the expiration of the old licenses are over.

I really would be grateful for your help!

Kind regards!

What is the name of the other license you bought and replaced the old ones with?

Generally it is sufficient to add the new license to the user and should work thereafter.

I have two different type of new licenses. "Dynamics 365 for Sales Enterprise Edition" for the users and "Dynamics 365 Plan 1 Enterprise Edition" for admins.

    Kind regards.

Do you still have any Dynamics CRM (not Dynamics 365) licenses?

I can still see the "Microsoft Dynamics CRM Online Professional"-licenses in the Admin-Center,

but theese were the ones which expired and like I said they are not assigned to any user.

But beside of them there are no more licenses.

You wrote you bought new licences, and if they are appropriate, you should not have to fear that anything will get deleted or removed. If you still get the expired reminder email please try and contact Microsoft Support. They will be able to help you.

Maybe you can tell us the amount and the name of the new licenses you got.
