Smartlist export to Excel cannot find the file.

After a GP 2013 upgrade we have one user that after she generates a Smartlist and clicks the Excel button, she immediately gets a message stating that the temporary Excel file SL tries to create cannot be found. The path is to her temporary folder. When I check the folder there are no files in it. We even tried logging is as an admin on this computer and the problem remains. It is as if the file never gets created. Any suggestions?

Richard, can you attach the full error message?

I do not have access to the computer but it is very similar to

    File cannot be found

    C:\Users\TheUser\AppData\Local\Temp\Filename.xlsx

Richards sorry for the late response.

Have you checked the user writing permission for the path "C:\Users\TheUser\AppData\Local\Temp"?

She is a local admin and she can go into that folder and create and delete files.

Richards, I have tried to create the same scenario on my environment. But, no luck. If I find any resolution for this issue, definitely I will update you.

Soma, this is the first time I have ever seen this. I had even made sure the folder existed. It must be some Windows security issue. I am turning this one over to their IT staff since they are the ones obsessed with security.

Try running a Process monitor when you do the export and you should be able to see the path. Or if there is a issue during the export PM should be able to give you a idea as well.

Any update on the resolution? This is a post that is getting a large number of views so we would like to get a confirmed resolution.

I have the same issue in GP2013 and I am a domain admin!

Again please run a Process Monitor log and see if you get access denied results. Just because you are 'Domain Admin' doesn't mean you can't be restricted to a folder location.
