Hi,

In my devBox, when create a recurring job and set processing recurrence to let's say 1 min. If I go inside the batch job, i will see a task called "integration activity batch" and another one called "integration activity batch task"

the batch one is always there and it executes each 1 minute and the record stays there (task ID doesn't change), but the task one appears each 1 min to execute then disappear, and a new one gets created each 1 min (new task Id)

First, what is the difference between those two batch job tasks?

Secondly, in another environment, this "integration activity batch task" doesn't appear as a batch task inside the batch job, it appears in the batch jobs form outside and executes each one minutes and disappear then gets created again

so here inside the batch, only the "integration activity batch" appears without the task one, as somehow the task one is appearing in the batch jobs form

What would cause this?? why there is a difference between the two environments? did this task start appearing as batch job from the outside?

In this case this is normal because the batch job can create one or more tasks.
The difference between the two environments may be due to settings or data.

    Hi Mohamed,

I'm afraid your reply doesn't answer my two questions:

1- What is the difference between these two batch tasks inside the batch job? what does each one do?

2- Why in one environment the "Integration activity batch task" is appearing as a task inside the batch job, while in another environment it's appearing separately outside the batch job? if it's setup, what is the setup that would cause such thing?

In D365 F&O, the “Integration activity batch” is the persistent recurring batch job that only acts as a scheduler, while the “Integration activity batch task” is the actual execution instance that gets created every minute, runs the logic, and is then removed; in your DevBox it appears as a child task inside the same batch job, whereas in the other environment the framework is running it in a detached execution mode, so each run is created as a short-lived standalone batch job visible in the main Batch jobs list. This difference is not functional but architectural and is typically caused by differences in platform update level, batch framework features enabled via Feature management, or batch server/group configuration, which determine whether recurring jobs spawn child tasks or independent runtime batch jobs.
