How Fixed Reorder Qty for Requisition worksheet works for multiple locations

Hi all,

I have an inventory Item No 1696 with Replenishment System = Purchase, Reorder Policy = Fixed Reorder Qty.  I have multiple locations and would like to use the requisition worksheet to calculate the requirements for multiple locations with respecting planning parameter enabled.  The actual results turned out did not consider a second location demand, and the result did not respect the reorder Quantity as well.  I need some help to identify what is wrong here.  Thank you for your help.

1. Item 1696 and Item card Planning

  • Purchase UOM = BOX
  • 1 BOX = 20 PCs (base UOM = PC)
  • Replenishment System = Purchase
  • Reorder Policy = Fixed Reorder Qty.
  • Safety Stock Qty = Reorder Point = 30
  • Reorder Qty = 40
  • Lead Time Cal. = 1D

Order Modifiers:

  • Order Multiple = 20

Inventory on Hand

  • Location A = 15
  • Location B = 0
  • Location C= 0

Qty on Sales order = 80

  • SO 1 Location B = 10   requested date = 2/4/2022
  • SO 2 Location B = 50   requested Date = 2/25/2022
  • SO 3  Location A = 20  requested date = 1/31/2022

Qty On PO = 0

Qty On Job - 0

Run requisition worksheet to calculate Plan:

  • Start Date = 1/1/2022
  • Ending Date = 3/31/2022
  • Item No = 1696
  • Respect Planning Parameters

Actual Result:

  • Item 1696  location A New PO Qty = 1 BOX Due date 1/24/2022 ( did not respect the Fixed Reorder Amount = 2 Box = 40 Base UOM)
  • no PO is suggested for location B

Expected Result:

  • Item 1696 Location A PO Qty = 2 BOX due date /30/2022
  • Item 1696 Location B PO Qty = 1 Box due date 2/3/2022
  • Item 1696 Location B PO Qty = 2 Boxes due date 2/24/2022

    Hi

Quick question. Do you have any SKU setup for each location? and if yes what are planning parameters for those SKU?

    Thanks

    Hi

I went ahead and created a new item in my test and then created exact setup to test. This what I realized

Go to Manufacturing Setup then look at Components at Location this is the only location that BC respect Planning Parameters for in your setup (without SKU). It does not do the same thing for other locations. In addition it ignore Modifier for none-primary location.

In your example it is a chance that Location A is not a main location in that setup.

That being said it is strange that system did not recommended anything for Location B. I post my setup here and this way you can check and let me know if I missed anything here. This way I can try to replicate it. By mistake I created SO for 3 locations but you can see for Loc2 system ordered QTY and also generated 3 lines for Main Loc (to build back inventory to Reorder then for the rest of orders)

    Hi,

Thank you for your update.  The setup that missing in my case is the Manufacturing Setup page.  Once the primary location is setup it works as expected.

The suggested PO for the secondary location shows up now - this works.  However,  as you mentioned, the requisition worksheet calculation does not work the same way for Secondary Location,  the Calculation does NOT respect the Planning parameter for the secondary locations.  For example,

    • the suggested PO qty for Loc 2 is 20 UOM, while the fixed order qty=40
    • the safety stock of 30 is ignored for secondary locations, Loc 2 in your example.

Thank you for your help on this.

Thanks for update. I do not know why MRP does not respect the planning parameters for other locations (without SKU). It makes sense to me that respect those but maybe has a logic that I do not know.
