March 2022 Service Update 1.9 for Microsoft Dynamics CRM (on-premises) (v9.1.9.8) Tools file corrupt

Hi,

The March 2022 cumulative update for 9.1 contains three files, the server (CRM9.1-Server-KB5012731-ENU-amd64.exe), the SSRS (CRM9.1-Srs-KB5012731-ENU-amd64.exe), and Tools (CRM9.1-Tools-KB5012731-ENU-amd64.exe), all self extractors. Unfortunately, the latter Tools, fails to extract with the following message:

Setup for Dynamics 365 Tool
The extraction of files from this package failed.

2022_2D00_05_2D00_10_5F00_14_2D00_43_2D00_30.png

I have attempted to download the file several times, as has my colleague, and have tried extracting it on the server (2016 Datacenter) and my Windows 10 machine. All fail with the same error despite having plenty of disk space and available memory.

Previous versions, when downloaded, operate fine.

Workaround

To resolve this I was forced to extract it manually using a utility such as 7-zip.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been raised before now.

Kind regards,

Kaine

    Hi Kaine,

So it has been resolved now, right?

    Hi Nya,

No this hasn't been resolved. If you go to the Microsoft Dynamics 365 On-Premises Cumulative Updates page and:

    1. Select the latest v9.1 rollup patch (Article number: 5012731, Article title: Microsoft Dynamics 365 (on premises) Update 1.9, Release date: March 2022, Version: 9.1.9.8),
    2. Select the Download the Microsoft Dynamics 365 (on-premises) Update 1.9 package now link,
    3. Click the Download button,
    4. Select the CRM9.1-Tools-KB5012731-ENU-amd64.exe file and hit the Next button to download it,
    5. Then run the .exe and choose a folder to extract to, you receive the error I reported.

    Kind regards,

    Kaine

    Hello Kaine,

    Thank you for reporting this.

At least my team that handles onprem installations didn't see incoming similar asks.

I've already raised it internally and will update any news here.
