is it Possible to have more than one owner for Account in D365 CRM?

Hi All,

I am working on On premise implementation for one of the customer. MSD version we are using us V 9.0 with update 0.012

The Requirement is as  follows:

User hierarchy: GM-->Sales Director-->Account Manager-->Sales Enabler. [Same Business Unit members]

Sales Enabler are responsible for generating and assigning the leads and opportunity to account managers. One Account Manager can have more than one sales enabler. one Sales Enabler can also work for more than one account manager. Sales Enabler can only create lead for Account records which are tagged to the account manager.

One Account record can have more than One Account manager tagged.

Additionally there could be cases where Sales enabler directly report to director and can create lead for all account manager who report to the sames director.

Initially when the lead is created, Sales enabler would be the owner. Later as the lead progresses then sales enabler can assign the created lead to account manager. The lookup should only show the list of account manager who are tagged to Account record for which the lead is created.

I am not able to implement this using the OOB security model like combination of Business Unit, Role and Access level. is there anyway?

Any help will be be appreciated

--Thank You !!

    Hi Arora,

You could do this in an indirect way by adding two lookup fields to the Lead entity: one to select a Territory and the second lookup field (Account Manager) to User and filter this lookup based on Territory.

Add the account managers to their Territory. You can also set the default Territory for the accounts and use field mapping or workflow to copy the Territory value from Account to Lead record.

Use a workflow to set the owner of the record based on the new field Account Manager.

Thanks for Your reply Stefan  much appreciated. Sorry if the description was not clear enough. Here the territory is not the deciding factor. Access to records revolves more around account manager. One account can have more than one account manager. One account manager can be account manager for more than one account.

One Account manager can have more than one sales enabler. One Sales enabler can work for more than one account manager. So account record must be filtered based on account manager for whom sales enabler is working for. Sales enabler can only create lead for these filtered set of accounts.

    Hi,

I believe you can achieve these business needs by having a Team as the Owner of your Account records, and the managers for that account can be members of the owning team.

However this might be challenging to maintain if the account vs account managers associations change a lot in your organization. In such a scenario, it would be easier to share the Account records with the managers.

    Hope it helps,

    Nathan
