Calc sales tax for Sales Order

Hi,
 
I would like to calculate Sales Tax on Sales Order on following events:
 
  1. When SO is created
  2. When SO is updated
  3. When Packing slip is generated
  4. When it is Invoiced
 
Please suggest what is the preferred way to calculate it based on different stages of SO as mentioned above.
