Selecting Packing Slip while invoicing a Purchase order takes long time

We're using AX2009 and particularly when a user is trying to select Packing Slip while invoicing a Purchase Order, it's taking them somewhere around 15 - 30min for the Packing Slip form (VendPackingSlipJour and VendPackingSlipTrans) to pop-up.

To be noted, we didn't have any new deployments or changes and this started to happen from past few days only. Not sure what could the issue is all of a sudden and not sure where to start looking from.

Any helpful suggestion/information of what could be the issue here or what can be done in such cases is appreciated please. Thank you!

    Hi Khaja Mohammed,

As tables increase in size, if they are not indexed or haven't been re-indexed for some time performance can be reduced. Try to reindex your tables.

You can do it from AX(Administration - Periodic - SQL Administration - Reindex) or from SQL Server.

Reindexing every table or index consumes a lot of computing power so do it in off peak hours.

Also check if this hotfix for AX2009 applies to your situation: support.microsoft.com/.../you-experience-slow-performance-when-you-open-a-form-by-using-a-displa

Slow performance can have many causes, but given that you didn't recently make any changes, I guess indexes might be the reason, do you have a maintenance plan?

    Best regards

    Hello Andre,

Sorry for the delayed response. You were right indexes were the reason. In after hours later that week we Rindexed and ran update stats for individual tables related to what I needed. That made a hug difference. Now its back to normal and opens in few seconds

Thank you very much for your help!

    Hi Khaja Mohammed

In addition to what Andre suggested, you can also run Consistency check from Basic | Periodic | Consistency check, select Sales Order Packing slip  from the list under Sales order:

    subscription.packtpub.com/.../consistency-check
