Passing Product Details to Quote Product

I seem to be having an issues passing a custom field from Products (itemweight) to quote products. I have the relationship and can even see it with the correct data on the subgrid on the quotes page but when i go into the actual product in quotes the item weight is not filled in and doesn't seem connected.

I'm sure i'm missing something really basic i've done a google but nothing that sticks out

So you can't set up the crm just to grab the information from the Product catalogue using the Product Number. I'm trying to use a rollup field on the quote page from the Gridview but the only link i can get to from the rollup is in the Quote_product

You can use plugin post operation for quote product to add custom field value from product to quote product.
