New design for Sales Invoice report

Hi all,

Can you please let me know, Customer wants NEW report design for "Sales Invoice" report INSTEAD of standard report

The new report design is only applicable for JAPAN Legal entity. And for others legal entities the STANDARD Sales invoice report should run***

I don't wants to distrube the STANDARD code and design as well. for this i do DUPLICATE all the classes for Sales Invoice like...

SalesInvoiceDP_NEW

SalesInvoicController_New

SalesInvoiceContract_New

I have also created a new output menu item to call this report.

@ Now i have to ADD NEW DESIGN FOR SALES INVOICE REPORT***

My question is

1. Shall i create a NEW REPORT FOR SALES INVOICE WITH NEW DESIGN 

OR

GO FOR EXISTING SALES INVOICE REPORT TO ADD NEW DESIGN THERE ONLY.

Which option is best approach?

Please give me more shed on this.

    Hi,

    Is your requirement is just to create the new design or change the back end logic to show different data on the report? If it is just design change use the existing Report and add a new design.

    Creating new report depends on what you are trying to show data on the sales invoice report.

    Let us know what exactly you are trying to achieve here.

    You can create a new design and choose which layout to be used on the print management setup in your Japan company.

    Mainly depends on your new logic.

    If you just modify some data or add some simple logic, I think it will be more convenient to expand, after all, it takes more time to create a new report.

    I go through the link. excellent blogs.

    I saw that, the custom report SL_InvoiceReport.Report is now showing in print management.

    What i understand, you do all the logic in STANDARD class only and create a NEW REORT FOR sales invoice instead of adding design on EXISTING Sales invoice report.

    is it rite? ***

    Then please clarify me on this....

    if i go for the same approach as you suggested, then how to put validation on LEGAL ENTITY ? where to put the code ?

    @ because in print management, i need to show my custom report for JAPAN Legal entity only. for other LEGAL ENTITIS, It should show the STANDARD REPORT (salesInvoice.report) only

    The new design format is totally changed for sales invoice report as per customer requirement for Japan legal entity and for other legal entity , need to show the existing ( standarad ) only

    Print management setup is company specific, so you can use your Japanese design in the Japanese company, and some other design in other companies. That's a very common requirement, usually different countries have different requirements for sales invoices (what information must be shown etc).

    About making that design available only in Japan company, you can take a look at how it's handled in the standard application. SalesInvoice report has many designs such as ReportHU for Hungary and so on. You can right click a design -> Add-ins -> Cross-references to see how it's handled in code. You need to check at least Classes\PrintMgmtReportFormat\populate
