Word templates: group field in body

(0) ShareShare
ReportReport
Posted on by

Hi,

I have to design a SOP invoice that has 2 grouping. The report need to group the item under the 2 category.

e.g Comment text and then comment text 2. I am passing some value through the fields.  So I want the report to show comment text, then comment text 2 and then list all the item link to comment text 2 , followed by comment text and the move to the next comment , followed by comment text 2, items ........ Is this something that I need to do in report writer before putting it in the word templates?

A standard practice for designing Word Templates is to make all your changes in the Standard (Report Writer) form first.  The Word Templates use the Report Writer XML, so you need to be sure everything in the Report Writer form is set up correctly before you design your Word Template.

    Hi Patrick

First answer is Yes, you need to do it in Report Writer first. The second challenge is finding a way to do it. The default design is to have four available Comment Text fields per line item. Do you want to switch it around so that the Comment Text is the header and the individual items fall below them (or above them)? You could kind of do it the way it's setup by entering the comment on the last item in the group. You would need to enter the items on the SOP document in the correct order to get this to work. Out of the box, there is not a setting that allows this behavior.

    Kind regards,

    Leslie
