Allow any Authenticated User to view data without provisioning them

Hello,

We have installed Dynamics CRM 2011 in our org where there are over 10K users. We have an Active Directory that can authenticate users. Without having to provision each user in Dynamics CRM 2011, is there a way we can configure CRM such that any authenticated user can have a default, limited view of the data - maybe something like NT Authority\Authenticated Users, the way it is in Sharepoint. I tried this, but didnt have any success.

We also want to allow any user to just create a record for an Opportunity. How do we go about accomplishing this?

Thanks, GB

    Hi GB,

So your crm system will have 10K uses logging into it?

The best way to provision this would be via custom code.  This custom code can either be tied into an existing provisioning system where when the active directory user is created they are also added to CRM.

    Hi Alex,

Thanks for your response. While this does sound like a viable solution, I was hoping that there is an alternate way of accomplishing this without having to do user management and sync'ing between AD & CRM.

The ideal solution I was having in mind is something like how Sharepoint allows "NT Authority\Authenticated Users" to be granted read only permissions to the site.

    Cheers,

    GB

    Hi GB,

Yep - it is a bit more complicated.....CRM does store the user's GUID, ad domain, etc in a table.  CRM tracks all activities back to the users - created by/on, modified by/on.    But the code to do so is not that complicated.  The crm sdk is very well documented.
