Hi there,  I need a list of all the names and display names of all fields in an entity.  Does anyone know the SQL code to do this from the back end?  We have Dynamics CRM 2013 on premise.

Thanks in advance.

JJK

Please try to create query like

    Select  * from  [MetadataSchema].[Attribute] a  inner join [MetadataSchema].[Entity] e on  e.EntityId=a.EntityId where e.Name='entity name'

    thanks

If your requirement is not dependent on SQL you could try the XrmToolbox . This link will take you to Codeplex where it was housed for a while. I am sending you there first so you can check out the amazing amount of tools it has available. Two of them might suit your needs - Metadata Doc Generator and Metadata Browser. The XrmToolbox connects to your org, it is not a solution that is imported.

Once you have reviewed offerings, you are given a link to GitHub to download the tool, but unless you are interested in adding functionality to the project, go here instead XrmToolbox by Tanguy Touzard . Once there click the box with an arrow in it next to Downloads near the top of the page. This second link also provides help on connecting to your org.

Hope this helps your day run more smoothly.

Thank you Anil - I didn't want to install anything - just a quick listing I could export to a spreadsheet and this was exactly what I needed.

Also thank you to Surmeet and Paige - I will keep your solutions for future reference.  I do know of XRM toolbox but it is not installed on our server.

Actually Anil - that shows the logical and physical name.  Looking at it more closely - it doesn't show the display name.  Would you know which table it was in - I have checked the fields on Entity and Attribute

The view you should be looking into is LocalizedLabelAsIfPublished. Have a look at [View:https://dreamingincrm.com/2015/09/16/sql-script-entity-row-count/] where I used this view to get the entity row count.

Use XRM Toolbox. It does not require to be installed on server. It gives all the information you need including data type and description. It is ready to use document. you can choose what entity you want in document.

    Screenshot pasted below.

    Exported document.
