Custom label doesn't show

Hello experts,

I have created (with extension) a custom language and in this language a custom label (as explained here). The way I created the label is one for the base language "en-us" and one (with the same ID) in the language I need translation. Then to test it I changed the label of a display menu item to my custom one and the translation doesn't show. It only shows the text in the "en-us" label but not the translation even when I change the language from the User settings menu. I guess I am missing something but I can't figure out what it is. Can anyone help?

Thanks

    Hi add,

    Nice post, you shared :). Thanks for reading my blog.

    Did you do a full build of the solution and also the model(s) which is referenced from your label customization? Have you also tried to perform a restart of the web application?

    Hi André,

    I tried: Build Solution >> Build Models + References + Synchronization >> iisreset

    but still in client I can only see the text in "en-us" custom label and not the translation label that I need.

    Hi add,

    Can you provide some details what exactly you have done?

    Hello André,

    Sorry for the delayed answer. I actually redid the whole procedure and it seems ok now. I guess I overlooked something before. The exact steps are these:

    1.Create TestProject in TestModel

    2.Add New Item -> Label file

    3.Name the label file -> [LABELFILE] + “_extension“

    4.Add my language (bg-BG) -> click Finish

    5.Create label ID1 with some text in en-US.label.txt

    6.Create label ID1 with different text in bg-BG.label.txt

    7.Create extension to menu item VendTableListPage

    8.Change label of the extension from @SYS336236 to ID1

    9.Build -> Synchronize -> iisreset

    Thanks

    Hello,

    Sorry to open answered question but I have come across something else. The above procedure works but only if I create a whole new label with new Id. If I want to just translate existing system label the translation doesn't show in my language. What I do is I go to my custom label file and create label with the same Id as the system label (e.g. @SYS336236) then write some text (translation). I think after that I should see the translation in client but I don't. Am I missing anything?

    Thanks

    Hi add,

    What exact object name did you use? "SYS_extention" or something different?

    Hi André,

    Thanks again for the help! My object name was "KSF_extension". Then I tried with "SYS_extension" and it worked. I think I get the difference now. The first one just creates a label file and I can use it as a label file. But if I want to just translate the SYS labels I have to "extend" them. Is this right?

    Hi add,

    Your understanding is correct.
