Budget Import from Excel with Formulas

(0) ShareShare

We are having an issue with budget imports on any spreadsheet that contains formulas.  If the formula is a series of numbers(i.e. =100+200+300), it will only pick up the first number.  If it is a cell formula (i.e. =N4+100), it will pick up "4".  If it is a cell formula that was copied from another cell, it seems to import okay but if you type it into the cell, it doesn't work.  We have tried exporting a blank budget and filling in the formulas but still no luck.  We could do a "paste values" but that doesn't really solve the issue.  Has anyone else experienced this?  We are using Office 2010 and GP 2013 SP2.

Thank you.

    It is easy in Excel to copy cells and paste the value rather than the formula.

    Another option is copy and paste to text file and use the tab delimited file for imports.

    Cheers!

    Same issue here. We use Office 2013 and GP 2013. Only solution I have found so far is to copy all the data in the budget spreadsheet to a new worksheet so I can retain the formulas. On the existing worksheet for import, highlight all data> copy > paste special values. This will replace all formulas with the cell value. You may want to verify that all formulas round to two decimal places first.

    This is a new issue that did not occur in GP 10.0 and previous versions.

    This is a 2013 bug I believe, as this has never been an issue before and when I tested in GP 2010 it works as it always did, formulas are not a problem.

    Is there a Microsoft person on this forum that can chime in?

    There has been a change in the functionality in the way that Dynamics GP connects to Office applications between GP2010 and GP2013.

    If you want to take advantage of importing budgets with calculated fields in them try changing your Dex.ini file to reflect what is below. This will be MUCH slower than using the new functionality.

    UseCOMForExcelExport=TRUE

    Cheers
