Filter look up field to show just child accounts of selected account in Parent account.

Hello,

I have custom lookup field of type 'Account' entity in 'Account' entity. I want to filter record for this look up like it should show only child records of selected account in 'Parent Account' look up field. But in Related records filtering it does not showing Parent Account field, see screenshot below:

I do not understand why this is happening? Self reference might be causing the problem, but any one has idea why this isn't working.

    What exactly are you trying to achieve?

    You already have the parentaccountid field in the account entity, what is the purpose of adding the additional field.

    This might allow us to assist you in troubleshooting this.

    I want to add one more level of categorization for Accounts, I have explained in details here - community.dynamics.com/.../249079

    This is my actual requirement but to make things easy to understand I created this question.

    Tried the same here quickly - does not work for me either.. Looks like self-referential lookups are excluded from those lists.

    But you always have an option to add those filters dynamically:

    www.inogic.com/.../apply-custom-filter-on-lookup-field-in-dynamic-crm-using-script
