Dear Team

As we are updating CRM 2011 On-premise to Dynamics 365 CRM Online v9, in this regards, I just searched on google and found that Dialog is going to deprecated in coming updates. I also found that PowerApps Canvas is perfect alternative of Dialog. Currently, we have 12 Dialogs working on CRM 2011 On-premise.

It is request to please guide me, when our organization migrates to Dynamics 365 CRM Online V9, which type of License we need for PowerApps to smoothly works.

Thanks

    1. When migrating from CRM 2011 On-Premise to CRM Online V9, The default CRM V9 interface will on Classic or it will automatically upgrade to Unified Interface during migration without asking us or any notification?

When you upgrade to V9 Online, you will have both a classic and unified interface. The default will be a classic interface and if you want your users to use Unified Interface you could have the unified interface app link on home.dyhamics.com. This gives companies and users flexibility.  The unified interface does not have all the features of the classic interface yet. Certain configurations and settings you can only do in old interface and the classic interface is not going away anytime soon. When you are completely ready to switch to Unified Interface, you can set the unified interface as the default interface from Power Admin Center

    1. When migrating from CRM 2011 On-Premise to CRM Online V9, we have to convert Dialogs to PowerApp Canvas App? Or the Dialogs work fine on Classic Interface (if the default interface of CRM V9 is Classic)?

Yes the default interface as I explained above is classic and Dialogs will continue to work no problem at all, please see below

    1. When I create the PowerApp (Canvas Application) and going to deploy it (I just create the Button called "Call Sample Dialog" on Contact form of Dynamics CRM V9 and OnClick Event of Button, I just load the PowerApp Canvas Application by giving Web Link of PowerApps Canvas Application ), It asks to enter the Email Address of Users (Dynamics CRM V9 users) so these Users will access this app in CRM V9 Form/Page. It is mandatory to provide the Dynamics CRM V9 Users Email Address?

Well since your users will be using Office 365 Singl Sign On they do not have to log in again to run the power app.  Yes you have a button to run the power app  and it will open in a separate tab as shown below

If you don't want it to open in separate tab and if you want to open within CRM entity form or from sitemap link, you can add using an iframe or web resource.

When you move to the unified interface, you can do native integration of canvas app within a CRM form as shown below

    Hope this helps

    Dear Kokulan

I am always thankful to you and other team members for kind help and reply. Actually, we are in the process of Migration from CRM 2011 On-premise to Dynamics CRM 365 Online v9. Would you help me out for the following questions:

    1. When migrating from CRM 2011 On-Premise to CRM Online V9, The default CRM V9 interface will on Classic or it will automatically upgrade to Unified Interface during migration without asking us or any notification?
    2. When migrating from CRM 2011 On-Premise to CRM Online V9, we have to convert Dialogs to PowerApp Canvas App? Or the Dialogs work fine on Classic Interface (if the default interface of CRM V9 is Classic)?

Look forward to your kind reply.

    Thanks

RE: Dynamics CRM Dialog will deprecated in coming update and no long supported in Future

    Hi Amin

We have many  CRM clients with Dialog processes, some with few and others with over 50 processes in few scenarios.

On V9, classic interface (Not the Unified Interface), you can still use dialogs no problem it works fine.

Even from Unified Interface, you should be able to have a button to open dialogs (I have not tried yet).

Microsoft announced its deprecated but it will continue to work at least the next 3-5 years in my view.

But if you are planning to move to Power Apps (Canvas), if you have CE license, you are already having PowerApps Plan 2. You don't have to spend extra to move to Power Apps Canvas.

When it comes to integrating the Canvas App within a CRM form, native integration of PowerApps is still in the preview stage.

Let me know if you need more info on this.

I wouldn't say "Unlimited" as there might be a limit. But people will be able to run all the apps shared with them ( when they are assigned the license)

I think you might want to call up the sales team and understand in detail as I couldn't find the exact documentation.

    Dear Rawish

Currently we have Customer Engagment Plan for developer instance having 10 users.

Now we can deploy unlimited PowerApp (Canvas Application) on CRM Online V9 Page/Form ? or PowerApp have some limitation of application when giving access on CRM Online V9 Page/Form.

    Thanks.
