I need to create field level security on the purchase order entry screen for certain Groups of users to just modify the Purchase Order date information and expansion window and line item comments only. I'm not very familiar with Field Level Security so is this even an option and if so your assistance is greatly appreciated.

Wouldn't be easy. You'd have to set Field Level Security on ALL the fields on the form you don't want them to have access to because they must have access to the form to access the fields you want them to.

Field Level Security looks complex but is really easy. Yes, you can do this in FLS. It is, however, to complex to explain here.
