D365 FO on premise Update version conflict

Hello, 

we have update the system with update 26 and now we are trying to update to update 29. but when we download the update 29.

when we downloaded the update 26 we got the file name as FinanceAndOperations_7.0.5372.35448_Platform.zip

When we downloaded the update 29 we got the file name as FinanceAndOperations_10.0.80.10018_Application.zip

why is the naming convention different? should we go ahead with update?

    Hi Naveen,

    Yes , you can.

    It's service update.

    Service updates contain both application and platform changes that are critical improvements to the service, including regulatory updates.

    Service update 10.0.5 with PU29  is  Platform and application binary package. Which application version you are on currently ? If you just want to update platform to PU29 then you can download  package "Service Update - Platform Update 29" add to your asset library  and apply it to your target environment.

    There is no difference anymore.

    In the past there were separate application updates and platform updates. You could apply just a new platform update (such as PU24) on top of application version such as 8.0

    Now since v10 it's only one monthly update which updates both = One Version.
