Global filter in interactive experience option show (Gray out) or not allow for Text Types Fields

Dear community,

I am working in an interactive experience Dashboard, but one of the fields that I would like to configure is getting the option Gray Out (see picture below)

Checking a few things I noted that it seems not to be possible to apply this option in Text type fields,

Any suggestions and in case that by text fields is not an option, Any ideas what can I do it to have this global filter for accounts?

Thank you,

Jose G Diaz

    Hi,

    Thank you for your query.

Currently text fields cannot appear in global filters in interactive experience dashboard.

Another approach is to use an Optionset, add all possible values (if feasible) to as options. Let users choose these values instead of entering open text.

Then you can use this option set as a filter.

As of now the option to check the ‘Appears in global filter in interactive experience’ is not available in Dynamics 365/PowerApps as of now for ‘Text’, ‘Multiple line of text’, ‘Image’ and ‘File’ data types.  This is a highly requested feature so it may be introduced in the future.

    Thank you Wahaj,

It did work with the Optionset approach, but I have a large number of values for one of the fields and I need to add a conditional column that matches the values coming from an SQL DB.

Do you have any idea how can I import large conditions in the power query, without editing the code?

    Thank you,

    Jose G Diaz

    Hi,

    Glad it worked.

However, I did not get your second question.

Do you need to import a large number of options in an optionset from an SQL DB? Would request you to share more details and a little background on your requirement.

Rather, I would suggest you to create a different thread for this as it is a different topic.

Also, If my answer was helpful, please mark it as verified (click 'Yes' under 'Did this answer your question').

This should make it easier for the other readers.

    Hi All,

This post is made in 2021. Today in 2024 I tried enabling the option "Appears in global filter in interactive experience dashboard" for text type field and its disabled. Is it still not possible for text type today?

Also I might be mistaken, is this option used so user can search using the field in the search bar?
