Import Error: There is no Item within the filter. Filters: No.: ''

I'm using MS Dynamics Business Central on Mac, using the Theta Excel Import extension to import items. I can't figure out what I need to fix for the above message to go away and let me import. Happy to provide any other information, thank you for your time.

I have the same question (0)

I do not have the Theta Extension, but I imported an Item via Edit in Excel and it worked for me.  If you try on a PC instead are you able to use the Theta extension or do you run into the same issue?  When I use Edit in Excel there are some Restricted fields that you cannot import into.  Maybe that is where the problem is coming?

Normally similar error gets raised when you are trying to save some information related to item before item itself is saved in the system. You can try standard "Edit in excel" option for importing the item master

I plan to try the native excel import on a PC, I'm not finding any helpful resources for the Theta extension. Seemed like a great workaround for Mac but the error message is just so vague.

The restricted fields is an interesting theory, but it seems to be specifically referring to the field 'No.' short for number. I don't think that's a restricted field, and I'm really confused about what filter it's referring to!!

But anyway, I think using a PC would have saved me a few hours of work. At least until MS gets the add-in for excel compatible with Mac.

So, this seems to be referring specifically to the "no." field. Do you think it's assuming I'm updating an item it can't find by including that field?

Also, the "edit in excel" hinges on an add-in that is not available for Mac! Super unfortunate. I may not have chosen Business Central if I had realized that.

I would recommend contacting Theta support to see if they are aware of this issue.  I found this on App Source

Additionally, in terms of your Mac OS vs. Windows, are you aware of the new Windows 365 (W365)?  Microsoft just announced it (available starting Aug. 2) which is a full Win11 desktop system delivered as SaaS and will be able to be run on Mac, iOS, Android, and Windows machines.  Would give you the best of both the Windows and Mac worlds.

    You're welcome

Sometimes, the "technical" fix isn't the best fix overall.
