Segregate AP Check Printing & Posting in GP

Our company wants us to segregate check printing and check posting in Great Plains.   I have found that I must give users who print checks access to the Post Payables Checks window in Great Plains so that they can reprint checks and finish a check run.  They should select 'process later' when they are done with a check run, and then an approved poster must log into the system and post the check run via the Post Payables Checks window.

The problem that I have is that if the check run approved user selects 'post' and 'process' and they don't have posting permissions for checks, the batch of checks attempts to post but  goes to batch recovery instead.  I would prefer it to check for posting permissions before it tries to post and block it altogether.    Is there a way to make this happen?

This sounds like a pre-GP 2010 answer. How can I do this in GP 2010? The field level security is gone now.

Using Field Level Security (assuming you have that module licensed in your system), you could hide the 'Process' button on the Post Payables Checks window so that the only buttons the users see are the 'Process Later' and 'Clear' buttons.  You can apply field level security by user and/or user class, hiding it from users who should not post but keeping it visible to those users you want to be able to post.  An alternative to hiding the button would be to apply a password to the button so only those users who know the password could activate the 'Process' button.

    Hope this helps,
