What is the best way to update Owners on Completed Appointments?

I need to mass update several appointments to have a new owner.  CRM won't allow me to do this for completed appointments since they are Read Only.

I was thinking of making a workflow to reopen the appointment, update the owner and then close it again.  The problem is that I think this will mess up the completed date since it will reflect the date that I reclose it.

Should I try importing the Owner over these records?

You will need to set the status to active, update the owner and then close the appointments again.  For bulk, you will need to do this with the SDK or a third party tool like SCRIBE Online.  Once a record is read only you can not update it.

Just create an Advanced Find view on the closed appointments entity that will give you the results of the appointments you are looking for. Click on the Assign button of the appointments, and assign them to the other owner.

This will not change the Actual End date of the closed appointment.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi CRM Learner,

you could assign a record also when it is inactive.

If you need to reassing a few records you can proceeds by advanced search, as Aric suggested.

Otherwise if you need to reassign a lot of records, prepare a workflow which reassign to a user and launch it by https://github.com/andypopkin/XrmToolBox-CRMBulkWorkflowTool.

    Hope it helps!

I just performed a test in D365 Online and was able to update a "completed" appointment record using an on-demand workflow with the step "Assign Record".  I noticed that the Modified on date was updated with a new date/time stamp.  Are you referring to the "Modified On" field as the "Completed Date" field?    If so, then as previously mentioned, your only option will be using a plugin or a third party tool like Scribe or Kingsway in order to maintain the original date values for Created On and Modified On.

    Hi,

Great if you want to have the modified on as your "complete date". Then you will need to use a 3rd party tool Scribe/kingswaysoft and write in the "overriden modified date" the actual modified date, because you can't directly edit the "modified on" field.
