GP 10.0 Manifacturing

Posted on by 140

Hi,

I have a few questions regading Manifactruing module.

1. I have a product with muliti-level BOM with some items on BOM being phantom and some regular. When I create MO and look at Picklist, it shows phantom parts as well as regular. Is there a way NOT to show panthom parts? It confuses uses, since they don't get allocated and users should check each one of thme if there is an issue.

2. I have some items that are Make or Buy in Inventory module in Replenishing method and on Engineering Data tab BOM set as treat as Buy, the items still apear as phantom on picklist and won't allocate from inventory even it is avaialble. Is there any cure for that exept for deleting the BOM for that item?

Thank you,

David

Thank you, Richard. What I did is setup a smartlist which does not show phantom items.

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town and just got back.

    Regards,

    David

    1.  Since you do not want to issue the phantom items (just their components) modify the report writer to suppress the line if the part type is manufactured with a phantom BOM

    1.  The only way to not show phantom parts is to have them setup as regular.   Do you not want to issue the phantom's parts?

    2.  I generally strongly recommend to keep both of those windows in synch so they state the same.  In your case, since the Engineering Data is what drives the capability to have a BOM, it must have been set to Make or Make or Buy so a BOM could be created.   Since they are populating the picklist, it is not the setting that is causing it to show, but the BOM setting.

Phantom's in GP and with the APICS term means that it is a nonstocked item.   It means if the base of a chair is a phantom, the wheels and base are issued at the same time as the seat, the fabric, etc.. of the chair.  It is still an assembly, but made at the same time as the rest of the chair.
