Best Scanners for Warehouse Worker Time Entry by Work Station

We are looking to implement scanners in our warehouse at each of the work stations and have our workers scan when they start and end at the station. We want to find a solution that has minimal effort for employees to manual scan and need a way for their ID scans to be linked to their worker name in D365.

Does anyone have suggestions on scanner products that work well with D365? We are not currently using field service and want to track time entry at work stations.

Thank you in advance!
I have the same question (0)

    Hi,

When I read your question, do I understand correctly that you want to register the time only when warehouse workers start and end their working day? Or do you want to use mobile devices for warehousing work? Can you elaborate on the exact details?

    Hi,

We just now setup the warehouse management app on a Zebra scanner device which is one of the most popular label scanning device. All you need is a Micro SD card through which you can install the below mentioned Application package (Windows) version.

Note: The Latest version is 2.1.26.0. We have setup version 2.1.23.0 on version 10.0.38 and are rolling this across 4 warehouses with 30 workers. 2.1.23.0 installs an .apk file whereas 2.1.26.0 has a file is a .msixbundle file.

Happy to answer questions, if any.

We had implemented android devices with an APK that scans the barcode and transmits the data to the system, that would be the cheapest alternative to scanners and can work efficiently on the user's device as well.

We are already using mobile devices (Ipads) for warehouse work and workers have ID cards for work day time entry.

I apologize for not be clearer with my question. We want to track the time each worker spends at a station and they can go to multiple work stations a day. For example, worker 1 goes to Station A, scans in / scans out an hour later, and then proceeds to Station B, scans in / scans out.

This seems like a simple task, but we would like to map a barcode (could be on a badge) to a scanner at each station and extract the warehouse worker ID, work station ID, and the Start/Stop time to an excel file or into D365.
