On Premise Installation ADFS to Windows Authentication

Hi,
We have an on-premise Dynamics CRM Installation (Version 1612 (8.2.11.13) (DB 8.2.11.13)) with ADFS authentication. For internal reasons we don't want to use ADFS anymore and switch to windows authentication (don't care CRM wont be internet facing).  An option to do this is install a new CRM on different server with windows authentication and then restore backup of current CRM database to the new CRM installation. Question is, can we restore backup of a CRM with ADFS on CRM with windows authentication? Will this work.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

    Hi,

We have analyzed your requirements and according to the official documentation, you can use Active Directory Federation Services Rapid Restore tool. please refer to the documentation in the link below.

Thank you Rudy for the reply but the article is for takig backup and restoring of ADFS configuration. We do not want to do that. We want to move from ADFS to Windows authentication for Dynamics CRM.

    Hi.

So, with all 'internal reasons" set aside, just disable Internet-facing deployment followed by Claims-Based authentication via Deployment Manager.
Obiously you should also close any public ip pointing to this CRM deployment as you shouldn't expose it with windows auth.

    Best regards.
    Philip
