Management Reporter Migration

Hi All,

I currently have Management Reporter 2012 installed and working on the same server that runs SQL Server and I would like to install Management Reporter on a different server so the processes can be better distributed to help performance. My current plan is to install MR on the other server, configure it and test, make sure the reports match up on MR connected to either server and then uninstall MR from the server that hosts SQL. Can anyone provide some guidance on the best route to go to complete this? I am worried I am over simplifying the migration.

    Hi ,

    Yes, it is possible even i run the same way in my one of MR instance and its works fine.

    Please follow the below steps:-

    1. Do not Uninstall the existing MR instance from your SQL server machine till another instance get ready in a different server.

    2. Backup the MR and DataMart database before starting the movement for safer side.

    3. Install the MR server with the same port number used in the SQL server MR instance.

    4. Configure with the existing database option.

    5. Once everything is stabilized with the new MR instance then you can start the uninstalling old MR instance hosted in the SQL server.
