Drill down in Management Reporter differs from FRx when using a reporting tree

In FRx when you drill down on a row for a report that uses a reporting tree, the first level of drill down takes you to the units on the reporting tree. For example: my tree has 4 units (Summary, Acctg dept, Sales dept, G&A dept). When I drill down on the total expenses row in FRx I see total expenses for Acctg dept, Sales dept, G&A dept.

If I drill down further I then get the account level details for that unit on the reporting tree.

This is NOT how it works in MR!! The first level of drill down takes me to the account detail! It shows me totals per account number. Drilling down further it takes me to the reporting tree units—but at this point it is per account number!

Is there a way to have the first level of drill down in MR be the units on the reporting tree and not the accounts?

Thanks,

Gina

I haven't been able to paste the pic in here.  Trying again:TotalsPerEntity.JPG

Thanks for the quick reply. I will check both options.

I had to black out some of it because this is a client's row format.  But you should be able to get the idea.

Also there is a reply above that says it works if you use a CAL instead of TOT.  I did not try that.

    Hi Beth,

    Thank you for the workaround.

Can you share the report definition in excel format or screenshot of the report definition. That will give us clear picture of the workaround.

In the Row Definitions, if you change the Format Code from Total "TOT" to Calculation "CAL" and adjust the formula accordingly, it will drill down to the branch totals instead of the individual lines being totaled, similar to how FRx worked.

We're also running into this issue. Was anyone able to resolve? We're arriving a bit late on the MR scene.

    Thanks

Thank you.  I ended up putting a page break at the end of the row format and then putting all the accounts included in the total on one row and copying that row for as many tree branches as I had.  Then I put a restriction for one branch on each of those rows to show the total per branch of the tree on a page at the end so they could drill into it if needed.  Not really what I wanted to do but at least it works.

No, sadly...never an answer. You are correct, no one really understands but you stated if perfectly!

Ever get a good answer on this?  I have a client with the same problem.  None of the answers here are answers - they do not understand the question.  The problem is that total rows in MR drill down to accounts that add up to the total instead of drilling to the branches of the tree as they did in FRx.  There is not a tree problem, there is a difference in the way the drilldown works in MR.
