Hi All,

I wanted to know the difference between dynamics crm model driven app and data verse power apps model driven app

Can someone please tell me their understanding on that?

I would also like to know that can we develop plugins, web resources, custom workflows , fetch xml etc.. in power app model driven app also? Or there is separate development for that?

I really want to understand the difference in terms of users and development perspective.

Looking forward to hear answers

Thanks in Advance

    Hi,

    • Dynamics CRM is a Dataverse server based solution.
    • Dynamics CRM is accessible from several clients. Model driven apps are one of these clients.

In short, Dataverse is a ready-to-use server that offers a security layer, a business layer, a data access layer and so on. Dynamics CRM solutions store their data on a Dynamics server, the business logic is implemented via plugins on Dataverse. The business logic of a Dataverse server can be extended via plugins and custom workflows.

The Model Driven App is an implementation of the presentation layer. You can configure forms, views, sitemaps, business rules. You can extend this kind of application via client scripting and even build your own web components using the Power Apps component Framework PCF.

Dynamics crm model driven apps are exactly data verse model driven apps

All model driven apps (crm or non crm) are build in data verse, so we can say data verse is behind every model driven and even canvas app, though with CRM there are pre build apps such as Sales, Customer services etc. They are again model driven apps but designed for a spacific purpose.

Both Dynamics CRM and PowerApps model-driven apps have a database called Dataverse, which consists of tables and records.

Dynamics CRM can be used by installing apps related to business applications such as sales and service based on licenses.
