yes you can do that, CRM SDK have APIs documented that can be used achieve deployment automation. I am not sure what kind of automation and how much automation you need, there are several ways of doing that.
1. PowerShell script: docs.microsoft.com/.../dn833081(v=crm.7)
2. XRM Tool Box: https://www.xrmtoolbox.com/
3. Developer toolkit (visual studio): marketplace.visualstudio.com/items.
4. PackageDeployer: msdn.microsoft.com/.../dn688182.aspx
4. Write your own .net application.
