Nothing TO handle Error For location With Bin Mandatory

Hi All,

I am receiving a nothing to handle error for a location when trying to create a pick from a shipment. I hope I filter the obivious suggestions like checking to see if a put away has been registered etc etc. by explaining my contect as much as possible.

Location has been setup like

Annotation-2020_2D00_04_2D00_14-Location-Setup.png

Then we I have setup Bins:

Bins-WH.PNG

Here is the bin contents for the item in question:

Bin-Contents-01063.PNG

Here is the qty per location

Qty-by-location.PNG

Then I have the shipment, created from the Sales Order:

SHipment-From-which-to-create-Pick.PNG

Then I get this error when I try to create pick from the Shipment order:

Nothing-TO-handle-Error.PNG

I want to mention that I created a reclass journal where I took all available inventory from one location and reclassed it to location WH, on Bin 00.00.00. From there I tried to ship items from that bin number. Gives nothing to handle. After that I tried to move the inventory to a different bin. Then try to create a shipment from that bin. Still the same error. I am missiing something here I feel, from a setup perspective, or workflow step that is either missing, or done wrong. Any help or suggestions for resolving this are much appreciated.

Thank you!

    Hi

How did you move the quantity to a pickable bin? What I mean here is that you have put away setup used. So you need to putaway first to get quantity available to pick.

Do not hesitate to open a support request if you need more info and we can check this together.

If you move quantities into the bin and skipped putaway step, then qty won't be considered as available to pick

Ask jerome at support team if needed

    Hi Jerome,

Thank you for your reply, As mentioned in my post, I reclassed the inventory through a item reclass journal from one location to another. Becuase of this, the quantities got moved, but not special Put away document was created. Nor Can I create one for items that were moven through a reclass journal. That is not an option from the source documents. As Alexey mentions here, to look at qty.avail to take, I actually do not see that field anywhere in my version? Which is version W1 9.00 NAV 2016

    Hi Alexey,

I actually have no option to see that field from the bin contents page. I only have 4 fields that mentioned Qty. Which are qty, qty (base), Max qty and min qty.

    Hi

As per your print screen I can see that putaway is required with your location. So I would check this: when you received this item, did you then use putaway? if no, and if you only moved by reclass journal, it could be the reason why it is not shown as pickable.

I already got this in the past: you then need to set back item to the receipt bin, then use putaway worksheet to recreate missing putaway.

I alrzady got this situation, where location needs putaway but it is not done by users. Then troubles could happen. AT least with BC, to be confirmed with NAV 2016.

To me if putaway is requested and not done, then it could lead to issue like this in warehouse. I got this issue already using BC recently, where not able to pick qties. This was due to missing putaway skipped by doing phys inv order (BC)

    Hope this is helpful

    Hi Jerome,

I have tested the theory, which in the end this is just one of those things I do not understand. I just created a transfer order for one item form location X to the location in question. When using the transfer order, you get the normal program flow, and a put away was created for this order. I registered the put away and voila! When I choose that Item, it does work. So it seems that you were right in the sense that all the quantities moved are not available to pick. My frustration with this is then why is it even possible to do this? Create a item reclass journal and reclass items from location A to location B. The reason I used a reclass journal is because of the fact that it was faster and easier to move 3k+ items in one time, rather than trying to transfer items, of which I would have to guess the available quantities to transfer. I gues I have reverse the whole reclass and than restart everything as a transfer order? Is there a way to create a put away from a reclass journal?

    Hi

    Great :)

I am not sure around transfer order. What I know according to my previous test and issue, is that location was set with require receipt and putaway.

But, in some situations, users were skipping putaway steps. But this step was setup and expected by the system. By skipping it, qties were not seen by the system as ready to be picked.

So what we did in order to workaround that is that we set back qties to receiving bins. Then using putaway worksheet, "calling" the original purchase order, I am then able to recreate the missing putaway. These were the steps I used to find solution to this.

If your customer is setting putaway, but do not use it, then I would advice to use a location where put away is not required.

    Hope this is helpful

    Kind regards

    Jerome

    Hi Jerome,

Thank again for your reply. For everyone else wondering, My customers always uses the put away actually. We even edited the code to actually require the put away to be registered. No way out of that. The problem I have experienced was due to the fact that I used a reclass journal to move inventory from a location where the bin was not required to a location were the bin is required. As a result I moved my inventory succesfully to the other location. But because of the location settings, it was not available to pick.

One possible way around this, could be to setup your location not requiring the put away initially. Then move the items and then setting the extra requirements. What I have done to resolve this is to reverse my reclass journal by creating a new one and to the exact opposite. Then I used a transfer order, where when we Receive the items a put away gets automatically created due to the location settings.

Hope this helps anyone who might be experiencing the same problem. Again thank you Jerome.

    Cheers!

    Hi Jerome,

I am stuck with the same error and the user forgot to create the putaway in BC. The qty from production order was moved to the bin without a putaway.

How can I create the Putaway now? The Production order is finished and I am not able to find any option to create the internal putaway. Any suggestion?

    Hi

Not sure regarding your scenario, did you try to recreate the putaway using put away worksheet?

    Jerome
