Hi,
is there any chance for migrate BOOKED data from Ax2009 to D365? DMT tool is only used for open data... Am I right? Of course, I can migrate the booked data as open/not booked and book/post them again in D365, but the problem of proper recreating the correct pairing of transactions and calculation of exchange rate differences remains.
is there any way to achieve the same?
Regards
What would this data be used for?
It might make sense to not migrate old transactions, but leave your AX2009 database somewhere so that you can use it for reporting purposes. And if your business users sometimes need data from there (such as order history or something) you can develop solutions that query that database from D365. This way your users can still access the required data from within D365 but you don't need to migrate all the data manually - since that would be a huge project.
Hi Talent,
Booked data are usually transferred in the form of balance transfers that you do for example for your balance sheet accounts that comprise things such as your inventory, fixed assets, bank accounts, etc.
What is quite uncommon is an individual transfer of vouchers that have been made in AX2009.
That is not only because it involves a lot of work but also because such a transfer is usually not needed.
Can you elaborate a bit on your specific issue and the question raised?
Many thanks and best regards,
Ludwig
Hi Ludwig,
The requirement is to transfer all posted ledger transactions to FnO. But I believe that it is not recommended to get the historical data as it mght have compatibility issue between the data structures.
Try to get rid of this requirement if possible.
The compatibility issue is one of the issues that you might face. Another one are wrong and corrected entries that you might not be able to move easily to D365FO.
If there is no absolute requirement (legal, operational, process wise) to have individual ledger transactions migrated, don't try doing that unless you get a huge budget for doing that :-)
Best regards,
It would be possible to first do a data upgrade to AX2012R3 and then to Dynamics 365 F&O, but this is not recommended. When implementing Dynamics 365, you would probably like to take advantage of new features and reconfigure certain parts from setup which was not perfect in AX2009. When you do the database upgrades, you can't reconfigure the solution. For that reason, it is better to only use opening transactions.
Thanks Andre and Ludwig for the insight.
