Microsoft Dynamics GP2015 Web Client not working with chunks

Hello, we have been using Microsoft Dynamics GP since 2008 and as we are in Argentina we first used built in localisation but as you know in GP2013 we have been provided these chunks by our partner. As everybody knows, GP is without any doubt heading to the web client environment hosted by Windows Azure or Amazon Web Services. We have made the installation in test environment and everything seems to work fine, with the exception of these localisation chunks. We have read some posts about VBA, Dexterity and .NET but we are not sure if this is the cause or what, because we didn't actually develop the chunks. To finish is important to say that it seems to install fine because as we paste the files in Dynamics GP folder, we get the intall menu in the web client, but we can't find anything.

Thank you in advance.

If the menus are correctly defined they will should in both the desktop client and the web client.

Thank you! And is there any chance for me to modify the navigation panels in the web client?

Glad it helped. These navigation lists are stored in SY01990. So, once you do it one user, look up that table for those records and then just repeat it for all the users so that you can avoid doing it manually for each user.

It worked just fine! I definetly need to talk to my partner, but as usual the are way far from getting the localization ready to GP2015, imagine GP2015 Web Client...

I don't know why the menus are not appearing on the Web Client. But as a workaround, you can create a New folder called <3rd Party Prod Name> on the Home Page Left Pane and then add all the necessary windows underneath that, so that you can continue using it on the Web Client until you/your partner come up with a Permanent solution. You have do it in the Desktop Client and then it will appear on the Web Client.

Nothing here? It is very important to us, we need to migrate to the cloud!

    Thanks in advance!

I've tryied your suggestions but i didn't have any results. The cnk registered fine in the full client and the forms appeared as expected there, but not in the web client. Here i attach an example of menus, first in the full client, where you can see "Configuración de medios de cobro/pago":

    WC.PNG

Here, in the web client, there is no such menú:

    WC.PNG

And to end, here i get the module as registered in the web client help/about/options screen:

    7127.RM.PNG

I obviously asked my partner but they didn't answer yet.

    Thank you both!!

    Hi Guido,

When you did install the GP Web client on the server side, did you pointed to the same launch file .SET as the full GP Client ? if so, then David is right, you need to run the Full Client at least once to trigger the installation of the .CNK file...

Even if you created a separate .SET file for the Web Client (which I recommend) because the web client may not need to run all the full fledged modules that you install for the full client, you will have to run the full client at least once to install the 3rd party module, or copy the entries from the DYNAMICS.SET to your WEBCLIENT.SET file..

My experience so far with 3rd party products showed that the GP Web Client is not very stable and crashes quite often, in which case you have to kill the web session and close the browser... as there seems to be no way to recover from the crash (it keeps looping in errors, despite to attempt to restart the session).

My suggestion is to run the Web client on a very minimalist .SET launch file with just the module you need to supply for Web client users, thus reducing the risk of incompatibility with the DEX run-time engine for the Web client.

VBA customizations and the like need to be carefully tested, and I'm not even sure they are supported. Dexterity and .NET code should be fine though.

    Hi Guido

Have the chunks extracted? Are the .CNK files still in the application folder?

If so, you will need to run the desktop client as administrator and include the new code.

Then try again with the web client.

Most dexterity code should just work in the web client. However, if it has not been checked for the web client, you might find that the UI does not always render correctly.

    Hope this helps

    David
