Add JavaScript to all pages across solution

Hi,

I'd like to add a piece of JavaScript to my Dynamics CRM environment.

That means, that by loading any page on my Dynamics portal, I want that JavaScript to be part of the HTML-source.

From a concept view, it's comparable to what you have to do to get Google Analytics in.

All options that I found so far by research would require me to add that custom piece of HTML to lots of different elements. But there has to be an option to modify as few elements as possible, right?

What's the best approach to do this? Would you recommend a client-side or a server-side approach?

Thanks in advance, any feedback highly appreciated!

Martin

Is this for the internal Dynamics app, or for an outside-facing portal?  Because for the internal app, there is definitely no way to do that across the board.  You'd need to add it to every form manually.

For the portal, I believe you can do that by adding a footer and making that default.

    Thanks for the quick reply.

Yes, it would be for the internal app.

Is there maybe some central entity, which is used by a large number of forms, etc? So, customizing that would hopefully yield a comparable result...

If you like flying by the seat of your pants and dancing outside the 'supported' status you could always try a HTTP Response rewrite at the IIS level - eg something like www.iis.net/.../using-outbound-rules-to-add-web-analytics-tracking-code

I wasn't aware of that possibility, thanks!

But is a modification at IIS level possible for Dynamics 365 at all?

If by 365 you mean the in the cloud hosted service then probably not. If on premise then I don't see why not. I haven't tried it myself though and it clearly would be outside of Microsoft supportability.

Right, I'm talking about the cloud hosted service.

    Thanks anyway!

    I'll look into that, thanks!

Hi Martin, I have the same issue with adding a piece of Javascript to all pages of my Dynamics 365 application. Could you find a solution?

    Thanks,

    Toan
