Using sa account for ODBC connection in Dynamics GP

Just wondering if there are other options other than using the sa account in the ODBC connection for Dynamics GP?  Can the DYNSA account be used in the ODBC connection?  I have a client for obvious reasons does not want to use the sa account in this connection.

    Jason,

    The ODBC connection does not cache the SA credentials, so there are no inherent security concerns. Here is a previous post on setting up ODBC connections manually.

    In current versions of Dynamics GP, ODBC sources are created programmaticly, unless you choose not to during install.

    I am with Harry on this one - we have been using sa as the connection for our ODBC for years as it is the one password that you know -- or should know is not getting used else where and it is not getting modified with out your knowledge.

    Best part, as Harry points out, it is not cached - our first complaint was that it was stored - we were able to show or not show that the password did not exist anywhere that users could find.

    We are good with SA
