I have a requirement where my customer want to seaparate out users work in diff diff countries, Like Australian user will not be able to see records of Russian user. My customer consider Australia and Russia as a territory in his business terms.

I have suggested them that we need to configure business unit for this but business is not agree for business units.

They are saying that they dont want business unit in system. achieve the requiremnt through territory.

Please guide me is it possible to acheive this requirement through territory.

If not what is the best way to achieve this?

Thanks in advance

If you can design it as a hierarchy it may be better.. but, if not, you can always use teams to add managers to any business units -they will get required permissions through team membership then

    Hi

You can use Teams, so that you can add a user from another Business Unit.

    Hi Alex,

Few more queries if you can help.

I have 5 managers and i have 5 business units in my system, currently each individual is a part of different business unit. Now management has decided to assign two business units to single user so that they have a visibility of both BU.

In general, anytime a user can have multiple business unit.

Is there any specific thing i need to keep in mind while designing BU's?

    Hi,

territories have nothing to do with security.. reporting - sure, but not security. In your scenario, if you are looking at it more from the security perspective, you could, as well, create a hierarchical business unit structure (parent territory, child territory, etc).

So the manager who wants to see multiple territories might be added to the parent business unit.

If you end up with a parallel structure.. then you might create teams in some business units , assign manager roles to those teams, and add managers to those teams

    Thanks for reply Alex.

So we need to configure business unit behind the scene.

One more thing, as per business one manager can handle multiple territories(visibility of records in each bsuiness unit), so how we can acheive this through business unit and territories.

    Hi,

territories are not part of the security model, but business units are, so you can't do this with the territories. Sure you can involve teams, sharing, etc.. but it's "extra".

BTW, what you are describing is an example of when business requirements get mixed up with the technical requirements.. your customer should not care as long as their business requirements are achieved, so I'm actually wondering why does it matter for them what "Technical feature" to use to achieve the right outcome.
