How to enable tax field for changing or correcting tax

Hi,

As per GP settings, tax of each line item will roundup and tax total of all line items will be added on total tax field.  so here when add tax of all line items of this invoice I can get tax total 780.11 but when calculate 5% of sales amount 15601.42, I should get 780.07.

I want to disable summary level tax edit otherwise there is chance for editing by mistake.

But I want to edit this field to change tax to 780.07 fro 780.11 based on security access

Kindly provide solution to fix this issue.  since we disable editing, is there any possibility to allow certain user to edit tax for editing tax for fixing the problem.

RE: How to enable tax field for changing or correcting tax

    Hi there,

So my suggestion #2 in the previous reply most likely would help, using Field Level Security to control who can do what in the window(s). If you search for that, there are a number of blogs and videos I saw in a quick search just now. Someone else may have time to spell it out in more detail here for you but if not, there are resources that can help that others have already written or recorded that should help.

The theory is you set security to a certain field so either it's not editable for certain users or requires a password or that a button on a window that opens the tax detail is inactive etc. There are many ways to accomplish it with FLS.

RE: How to enable tax field for changing or correcting tax

    Hi,

    Thanks for reply and help.

    1.  I am using The default rounding is "up to the nearest currency decimal digit" but there is error.

    2.  if Summary Level Edits  enable, TAX fied in  invoice also can edit, so there is change to edit by user mistake.

Please provide solution only certain user can open tax summary window and edit.

RE: How to enable tax field for changing or correcting tax

I've got a couple of suggestions for you.

    1) I would consider checking the setup of your Tax Details first. To be honest, I believe that most tax rounding issues can be resolved if the tax details "Round" settings are set up properly in the first place. The default rounding is "up to the nearest currency decimal digit" so all it takes it a few of your lines to have a tax calc of something like $10.001 and all of them get rounded up to $10.01 when it should be rounding to 10.00 (likely but some tax jurisdictions may say otherwise!). If that is your default, I would say test changing that in a test company and re-enter the same transaction to see if your rounding issue goes away. It might just fix it.

    2) Back to your original question, I believe what you are asking for is Summary Level Edits but limited to only specific people, correct? If that is the case the proper combination of things likely is to leave Allow Summary-Level Tax Edits enabled (ticked) and then look at Field Level Security within the Administration area of Dynamics GP to disable the arrow on the Tax field on that window for users who shouldn't be able to get into the Sales Tax Summary Entry window. That likely would accomplish what you are looking for I think.

    Hope that helps.

    Jen
