If inter store transfers have been created using worksheet 330, how can I get the receiving store transfer order to be updated once the transfer out order has been committed? This is a problem because the store transferring out may not have the exact item so may send a similar item. This alternative item will not appear on the receiving store's transfer order.

No - it won't and the system will not update it no matter what you do. This system does not handle transfers well at all. For example, if Store A transfers 12 of item XXX to Store B, but Store B only receives 10, 2 disappear from your inventory without a trace.
What we do is have the sending store reprint the transfer after making their changes, and use a highlighter to make them stand out. When the merchandise arrives in the receiving store, they are to make the changes based on the paperwork that accompanies the transfer. It's completely manual, but it will help keep your inventory straight.
