GP 2013 SSRS Install Error

Posted on by Microsoft Employee

Hi, I am on a new GP 2013 install with Server 2012/ SQL 2012 using a seperate FrontEnd Server (with SP 2013) and a backend SQL server.  I am in the middle of the install where the SQL Reporting Services Reports Setup "should" be installed.  However, for both Native and Sharepoint Integrated methods I am receiving an error message that "The SQL Server Reporting Services setup information is not valid".

I am logged in as a system admin and am using a valid webserver/directory where the admin has access.

I have been trying different possible solutions, but have been unsuccessful.

Please let me know if anyone here can help.

Thank You,

Gus

    Rob,

I am running all 2012 software components.

I have installed SSRS in native mode.

    I am running Dynamics Utilities.

I was finaly able to get the usrl working for Native mode as mentioned in my other post.  I can research later on how/if I can use Oundation for this.  But, in the meantime I can use the native mode.  Also, I had issues in deplloying the excel reports (again in the Utilities mode).  So, I had to use a Network Path.

    Hi Again Rob,

I think I answered my own question..

I looked into the Logs and found the server URL locations.  Apparently, they do not exist on the FEWS but on the SQL Server and stored as endpoints.

    So, Now I can continue.

Thank You so much for your help.  I'm sure I will be back with more questions :-)

    Gus,

Where did you learn that SSRS is not integrated into SP 2013 Foundation?  This link is pretty helpful for configuration SharePoint 2013 and SQL 2012 SP1:  msdn.microsoft.com/.../96ce12ba-0ce1-40dd-94a3-0c7fcd7f9010.

What version of SQL are you using?

    Answering your other questions...

    • You need to install reporting services in native mode if you haven't already.
    • You can find the native report server url by opening the Reporting Services Configuration Manager and going to web service url.
    • Are you currently running Dynamics Utilities?  You can also configure and deploy SRS reports from within Dynamics GP.

    Thanks

    Rob

RE: GP 2013 SSRS Install Error

    Hi Rob,

After doing a bit more research I ran across that SSRS is not integrated into SP2013 Foundation.  If that's tru for Dynamics then I need to concentrate solely on Native mode.

    Assuming Native mode only:

    a)  Do I need to re-configure the setup?  I can't remember completely.  But, I think I indicated that I would be using SharePoint.

    b)  Where do I find the path to a Native mode report site?  Would it be on the SQL backend or on the Fron end server?  Are the paths in the Logs?

    c)  Could I cancel out of the Reports setup and re-run it at a later time once I have companies/accounts set-up?

    Thanks again for your help,

    Gus

  • RE: GP 2013 SSRS Install Error

    Gus,

A few comments on the url's below...

SP2013: http://<Server>:80/Sites/<CoName>/GPReports  (I'm assuming you broke this up into http://Server/Sites/CoName for the SharePoint Site and GPReports for the Report Library.  Is that true?)

Native: http://<Server>/GPReports   (This doesn't look like a url that's normally configured by SRS.  Did you change it?  Usually SRS configures something like http://Server/reportserver.)

Beyond that, I'd suggest trying to configure the Reporting Tools Setup again and checking the SRS log to verify that SRS is seeing the request.  Checking the SRS log for the native instance should be pretty easy.  The path should be something like the following:  c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSRS11.MSSQLSERVER\Reporting Services\LogFiles.  I've included a couple links below for verifying logging in SharePoint and verifying SRS endpoints as well.

Turning on SRS logging in SharePoint 2013:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff487871.aspx.

    Managing Endpoints:  http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155398.aspx

    Thanks

RE: GP 2013 SSRS Install Error

    Hi Rob,

    Thanks for the help.

    the URL's I attempted are:

    SP2013: http://<Server>:80/Sites/<CoName>/GPReports

    Native: http://<Server>/GPReports

I have checked the DB permissions and they seem to be in order.  As far as the SRS data..  I have yet to complete the install.  This error (I believe) is keeping me from finalizing the install.  So, I can't move forward until this is resolved.

    Thanks,

    Gus

What are the url's that you're using?  Can you view SRS data through IE with the same url's that you're entering?  Have you tried running GP as an administrator?

    Thanks

    Rob
