Modifying RDCL Custom Report Layout

ReportReport

Hello,

I'm currently trying to modify a custom report layout (RDLC). The specific report is Inventory Movement report. My problem is that I want to add a field which isn't an available field to the report via Microsoft report builder. I can add new fields but when I import it back to business central, I get the below message.

"Rendering output for the report failed and the following error occurred: The Value expression for the text box 'DocumentNoFieldCaption' refers to the field
DocumentNoFieldCaption'. Report item expressions can only refer to fields within the current dataset scope or, if inside an aggregate, the specified dataset scope. Letters in the names of fields must use the correct case".
How do I resolve this?  Thanks
Warm regards
Bryma

I have been able to build the report from the AL environment using VS code.

    Thanks everyone

    Hi Bryma,
The correct way would be the create a report extension in AL code and add the field to the correct data item or as a label. Deploy the extension and the new field will be added to the layout assigned to the layout path.

if its only a caption change in the text box you can use '="New Caption" ' or 'New Caption' (do not include the single quotation marks.)
