Hi, the Professional Services Tool allows you to import a list of accounts (old account, new account columns) using a csv file format (from Excel).  I recommend trying in a test company.

Heather, I have a long list of accounts that I need to change; what's the best way to accomplish this change?

I searched for a SQL query but couldn't find one.

    Hi Eyad

You need to install the Professional Services Tools if they are not already installed.

Add the window you need to the Navigation Pane - right-click in the Navigation Pane and select Add Window.  From the list expand "Technical Services Tools" , then expand "Project" and you will see Professional Services Tools Library.

There is an account modifier within the toolkit.  You can change an existing account code to a new one - and all existing transactions will be updated.  You can merge two or more account codes into a single account code.  The original account just will not be in the system anymore.

You can also import a list if you are doing significant changes.

The full details of how to use all the tools can be found in the ProfServicesToolsLibrary.pdf file that should be in your Documentation Folder in the Dynamics GP root directory.

This is a very effective tool - I have used it often.

    Cheers

    Heather

I can understand that Account Number (Master data) itself is wrong and you want to change wrong accounts to new Account numbers, is it correct?

    1. If yes, then you need to create Account Number newly but you cannot edit the existing Account Number, so once you create a new account number, then set old account numbers to Inactive.

    2. If no, then please provide more clarity on your query
