Hi,

I am working on adding URL in a table. My requirement is to add the URL in a field, it might be "URL" or "File Path". If I touch that field means it have to open via browser or folder.

Is it possible to do? If possible please guide me.

Use the URL data type for you field. It will still be saved as a completely normal string, nevertheless the EDT has the type of lookup you're looking for.

It's a bit more complicated with file paths - look at tutorial_Form_File for details.

Hi Satish, if you use the Extended Data Type URL or FilePath on the database fields you should get a lookup button in your forms that will open the default browser and the Windows "browse for folder" dialog.

Add new string-type field in your table and set its ExtendedDataType as "URL"

Thats it, AX will show browser-icon in that field, clicking that icon will open related address url/path...

    Hi Guys,

I don't want to open it on the browser. I have to open the file in the server(Local machine). I'll mention the path in the field, If i touch that field I have to be redirected to that folder.  Is it possible to open the folder by clicking the field?

In other words, your actual question is not about "Adding URL in a table" at all, you want to know how to open a folder path in Windows Explorer from code. Did I get it right?

From my earlier answer: if you use the Extended Data Type URL or FilePath on the database fields you should get a lookup button in your forms that will open the default browser and the Windows "browse for folder" dialog.
