MR Report using currency translation and a tree format for comparative reporting

I have been able to successfully create a report for one company using the currency translation in KB2986068, where the company is in Canadian functional currency and can create a report that displays Canadian currency in one column and US$ currency in the second column.

Our customer wants to do comparative financial statements, and use a tree to display several companies side by side. When I add the tree, I loose the currency translation and the two columns display the same amount, and the second company doesn't display.

Is it possible to convert currency and use a tree?
