I am trying to update invoice names buy using the bulk edit function in advanced view this used to work fine before we recently upgrade to V9.
Now it says it is unavailable?

I tried in my environment, it is not available for bulk edit too. I would suggest you to raise a ticket with Microsoft if you think this is not correct.

Besides that, you can use one of the tool in Xrmtoolbox "Bulk DAta Updater".

I have just checked in my on-premise 8.1 instance and and online 9.1 version , seems this is product limitation or by design .
You can do alternate way like export and import data as a workaround solution.
I definitely used to be able to do this in v8 so i don't think its functionality issue more of a security configuration that needs changing
I was using admin account. The admin account has the bulk edit privilege. I would suggest you to raise a ticket with Microsoft support, it seems they changed the rule.
I managed to do it by saving the view and going to the entity then the view and clicking edit rather than through the advanced view window
