Short pick on sales order Pick, how to stop auto Inventory movement Journal posting

Posted on by 129

Hi Everyone,

Good Evening!!

Hope you all are doing well.

We completed a sales order on a mobile device using the short Pick select option, and if we used this function automatically, an inventory movement log was posted. Do we have any setups or configurations to stop the auto inventory movement journal?

Your suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Please suggest how to stop this below-mentioned Auto Inventory movement journal posting. This should be posted manually.

Kindly advice any setups or configurations which I am missing.

Thanks in Avance.

Thanks for your valuable time.

Kind Regards,

Shariff

Short pick on sales order Pick, how to stop auto Inventory movement Journal posting
    Hello All,

I'm facing similar kind of opposite issue. Means while I short pick the license plate with correctly configured work exception, inventory will not get adjusted. For instance, I'm having 50 EA on hand at location1 for Item A but after short pick of 49 EA from same location1, inventory is not adjusted to '0' instead remaining 1 EA is available. This setup is correctly working with USMF data not in our environment.

    Need suggestion/help please.

    Regards,
    CS Lingam

    HI,

Uncheck the below check box in work exceptions page.

and in standard D365 you cannot achieve what you are looking for i.e. Journal should be created but not posted. (Not possible in standard D365)

Either it will post or it will not do anything,

Nearest you can do in standard D365 is to create a cycle counting work which will follow its review cycle after worker has counted.

    Hi Shariff,

As mentioned above, verify my findings with a developer. If my judgement about the coding is correct, you would need a customization to be able to achieve your requirement.

    Hi Andre,

    Greetings of the Day!!

My main concern is that the inventory movement journal must be manually posted while performing short picks on a sales order.

The prerequisite is that an inventory movement journal be created, but it must be approved before posting.

    Hi Paul,

    Greetings of the Day!!

Yes, the warehouse worker is not a cycle count supervisor and we don't have any cycle count work pending review.

Thank you so much for your valuable replies.

Please let me know if is it possible to do something from the front end or do we go with the Developer.

    Kind Regards,

    Shariff

    Hi Shariff,

Is your requirement about creating the count journal, but not automatically post it? I check the coding. As far as I can see, the standard behavior is either create and post the journal or not create any journal at all. You might check this together with a developer to be fully sure.

In case my quick research is indeed valid, you might consider a customization to achieve the requirement.

    Hi Shariff,

Can you check that the warehouse worker is not a Cycle count Supervisor?

Warehouse management > Setup > Worker

Go to work users, under Work, ensure "Is a cycle count supervisor" is on "No"?

Do you have any Cycle count work pending review?

    Hi Paul,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I am unchecked the "Adjust inventory" box in the work exception, but the inventory movement journal is still not being posted manually.

And not getting that Inventory movement Journal page itself.

Please let me know how to manually post the inventory movement Journal while doing the short pick.

    Hi Shariff,

The work exceptions set up I expect will have the "Adjust stock" ticked. If you untick this it will then require someone to manually approve the adjustment.

Warehouse management > Setup > Work > Work exceptions

You can also find info on setup in the following link.

    Hope it helps!
