Debit Memo posted to wrong period

I entered a debit memo to wrong period (future period).  After releasing it, into its own batch it does not reflect in customers balance and shows as a future amount. We do not use cash manager, and there was no new money introduced. How do I change it to the correct period (past)?

Once an AR batch is released Dynamics SL does not have a way to change the posting period for that batch that will correct documents and transactions on the AR side.  You can turn on initialize mode, open the GL journal transactions screen, change the module to AR and then change the posting period on the batch but that only changes the GL side.  the AR document and transactions remain with the original posting period.

If you have access to SQL Server Management Studio you can run a couple of update queries to change the posting period in ARDoc and ARTran to the correct period.  However, you may find the best way to deal with this is to create a credit memo just like the debit memo including using that same future posting period and create a new debit memo for the correct posting period.  Then apply that credit memo to the original debit memo on the payment application screen.  That will clear out the future balance and get the new debit memo balance in the correct period.

Thank you. We had the same mind set. I will go ahead and post a credit memo for that future period.
